5Kiss Me! I Use Carmex!  Dec 06, 2010
By Wandrwoman "Caped Crusader"
See how soft and moist my lips are? That's 'cause I use that little yellow and white tub of lip balm with a name that is reminiscent of automobile polish. Don't be put off by the name! This is the best, most wonderful and best priced lip balm there is!

Pros:
1) It works! Keep a thin veil of Carmex on your lips and they will never chap. Too late? Already have rough, chapped lips? Use Carmex several times a day and your lips will be kiss-ably smooth in no time.

2) It's unisex. No man ever died of embarrassment while applying Carmex in the locker room. Smear it on your lips. Dab it on your chapped nostrils. So what? It's a manly tub not a girly lipstick that will garner snickers from your friends.

3) Carmex in the tub has a satin appearance, it's not shiny like lip gloss. (See #2 above)

4) On the other hand, if you are female, Carmex's benefit as a lip gloss applied over lip pencil is legion. The consistency is perfect and it lasts and lasts. It also blends well with lipstick. Use it over or under or mix together. You can't mess up with this.

5) It tastes ok but not so good you want to consume vast quantities of it. Carmex is lightly mentholated. Emphasis on lightly.

6) It is perfect for outdoor sports because the consistency is fairly thick and it coats your lips with a smooth satin finish that lasts a very long time. Your lips stay protected and you don't need to reapply it often.

7) It comes in a cute, little .25 oz yellow and white tub that will fit anywhere and is easy to find when you are looking for it.

8) Carmex is extremely economical. It is inexpensive and the little pot lasts a long time. If you save your money on lip balm you will be able to eventually affort a Kinnect.

9) Carmex is made in Franklin, WI, USA. It's not made in a rusty bathtub and stirred with old broom handles in an open air shed somewhere in Central China. How many products can you say that about?

Here are the cons:
1) In order to use Carmex you have to stick your finger into the tub. You will then have the balm on your finger. Some people do not like this. I always rub what's left on to my cuticles or on the back of the person directly to my right.

2) A case pack of 12 is a lot of Carmex. You can always scatter the little tubs around your house (bedside table, kitchen drawer, desk drawer) and office, keep one in your pocket, briefcase, or purse. Give some away to needy friends and relatives. I suspect you'll find 12 not too many.

3) It's not fancy! If you always have to have the latest "thing", Carmex is not for you.

4) If you don't like menthol, you will not especially like Carmex in the tub. (More about this later)

Carmex in a jar comes in two sizes: .25 oz which can be found almost everywhere and .50 oz Carmex Cold Sore Reliever and Lip Moisturizer, Jar - .5 oz which is not often stocked in stores.

Additionally, there are three versions of Carmex: the semi-solid in a little jar that is the subject of this review, a "gel" in an easy applicator squeeze tube (which is easy to apply when you are driving a car) Carmex - Lip Moisturizing Tube, Original Balm - 0.35 Oz (3-Pack) and a solid stick Carmex - Lip Moisturizing Click-Stick with Sunscreen SPF 15 Original Balm - 0.15 Oz.

The standard version of Carmex is slightly mentholated. The squeeze tube also comes in cherry and strawberry flavors. The stick contains SPF 15 and comes additionally in mint.

5Sweet lips  May 07, 2010
By Barbara Knypstra "Curly Top"
I can't find this product in the stores anymore and I love the stuff. The fragrance of menthol is fairly mild, but is concentrated enough to treat cold sores. I prefer the tub to the stick or tube. I keep it on my nightstand and use it every night, chapped lips are a thing of the past.

5Great Lip balm  Oct 17, 2007
By Juan Alvarez "Juan Alvarez"
I have tried many lip balms, but Carmex has turned out to be the best after years of trying many. Only Labello comes close to this one, I like this package because it last longer than the regular lipstick

5Hooked on this stuff  Jan 25, 2012
By KeithNYC "KeithInNYC"
Although the product has changed a slight bit over the years in its ingredients or ingredients labelling (you can read right here where the president of the company and the company members engage with each and every customer writing them about this [...], it sounds like it's mainly due to the company moving from industrial grade to laboratory grade lanolin, fragrances etc. (achieving better consistancy, grade and color etc.) or the FDA asking them to expand on their labelling desciptions better. Anyway, I find this product (specifically the jar form, which is a little firmer and smoother than the tube or stick balm...) to be amazing on my dry, cracked lips. It immediately softens the entire surface, and the menthol and phenol immediately relieve the soreness and dryness. And my lips stay smooth for a long time without re-application.

I've used vaseline intensive care lip balm, chapstick and countless others, but I keep going back to the Carmex jar.

My husband and I have these everywhere - work, home, cars, EVERYWHERE. We've found that this works so much better for us than any other products for dry chapped lips.
